In Loving Memory
Thomas C. Roberts
6/21/34 - 8/21/22
With heavy hearts and great sorrow, we announce the passing of my father, Thomas Roberts, called to rest on August 21, 2022. Born in Buffalo, New York on June 21, 1934 to Russell & Ida Roberts, Tom was one of 2 children.
Tom worked in the telecom industry in New York and Chicago before moving his family to Altamonte Springs, Florida in 1977. He retired from Siemens in 2002. Tom was an all-around handyman who could fix anything. His prize project was the restoration of his award-winning 1972 MG Midget.
Tom was a patriot who dearly loved his country. He was an extremely generous man, famous for leaving very large tips wherever he went. He especially enjoyed his Wednesday evening visits to Bonefish with his partner Sydney, where he would bring in the joke of the day and leave $100, $200 and even $400 tips for the staff serving them at the bar.
Tom loved sports and raised his only child, Patty, to be his sports buddy and all-around sports fanatic. He had a knack for making everyone who knew him feel appreciated and special. He loved deeply, without judgment or hesitation.
Preceded in death by his loving wife of over 60 years, Lillian, and his brother Jim; Tom is survived by his daughter Patty D'Alessandro, son in law Dan, nieces Cyndi & Debi Rutter, nephew Jeff Rutter, and Sydney King, his partner in crime.
A service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home at 335 E State Rd. 434 in Longwood on September 3 at 2pm, followed by a celebration of life at the Hilton hotel, 1275 Lee Rd. in Winter Park, where we can raise a toast to the empty chair and a life well-lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom Roberts' name are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project, which would make him both proud and happy.
