Adolphus Green Slate, III "Buddy" of Oviedo, FL, passed away on December 28, 2022 at the age of 79.
Buddy was born on July 7, 1943 in Charlottesville, VA to Adolphus and Hope (White) Slate. He grew up in Emporia, VA and graduated from Virginia Tech.
His greatest pride was his family, and he was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nancy (Ann F.), whom he met while attending Virginia Tech, his daughter Beth (Mary Elizabeth) Lear of Casselberry, FL, and his son, Michael Slate (Monica) of Melbourne, FL., his brother William Slate (Beverly) of Chattanooga, TN, three grandchildren: Brittney Coutts (Juliana), Casey Lear (Catherine), Maria Slate and 5 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Buddy enjoyed watching football, reading, making people laugh, and spending time with his family.
He took great pride in his 30 year career with Motorola Communications. When he retired in 1998, he was the Area Sales Manager for Public Safety Communications in Central Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Carolyn Morris
Services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home-Winter Park Chapel, 3806 Howell Branch Rd., Winter Park, FL 32792
