From her daughter:
Mami, Mama buela, Lela, Dona Lela, grandma are some of the names her children and grandchildren and those close to her would call her. Most of her nieces and nephews called her Mami Aida, which means mother Aida, which should tell you how greatly she was loved by all her family. She was stern and feisty but at the same time loving and caring. She was the leader for sure but held your hand if you needed it along each step. She was a wonderful caring mother and grandmother who would move heaven and earth if she had to help her children and by children I mean her own children and her children's children as well as other loved ones. Her passion and strength are part of the legacy she leaves behind and has molded all her children in different positive ways. Her motto "where there's a will, there's a way' is how she lived her life. I am who I am today because of her strength and am blessed to have had her as my mother. I heard or read this quote recently and it resonated with me, "You only live as long as the last person who remembers you", I have peace knowing my mother will be remembered for a very long time…
