Alan J. Coto

Alan J. Coto, age 78, of Orlando, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023 at home with his wife.

He was born on March 29, 1945 in New York, NY, son of the late Johnny Coto and Berta DeJesus y Marzan. He was a graduate of Food and Maritime Trade High School in Manhattan, and later graduated from City Community College and received certification from Brooklyn Technical School. He also graduated from Mid Florida Tech as a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM). He worked as a CDM for many years and most recently was working for Palm Garden of Orlando before he retired in 2018.

Alan served his country as a member of the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, serving from 1965 – 1969. Later, he continued his service as a member of the Navy Reserves.

On August 8, 1992, he married the former Linda Brownfield. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather; and will be missed.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Linda Coto of Orlando; four children from his previous marriage Erika, Mark, Caroline, Matthew. He and Linda raised Keri who gave him five wonderful grandchildren, Lucas, Kaylyn, Jordan, Lexi, and Trey; two brothers, Ramon Gandia of Astoria, NY, and Henry Gandia of the Bronx, NY; and two sisters, Norma Monsanto of Winter Springs, FL, and Denise Coto of Orlando.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Nancy Coto.


Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 7:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando with Chaplain Mike Caroline officiating.

Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
