Alan Lee Hichew, age 82, passed away on April 20, 2008. Alan was born and raised in Baltimore. He entered military service in 1943 and served first in the Army Air Corps and then the Air Force for 30 years. Alan retired as a Colonel beginning his civilian pilot career in Orlando, continuing to work with aircrafts in the Space program for Lockheed at Cape Canaveral.
Alan is survived by his daughters, Barbara Imboden and Alana Conrecode both of Charlotte, N.C. and Leigh Hichew of Orlando, FL and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arther Lee, ("Doc") and Elsie, ("Sisie") Hichew and his brother Guy and his sister Carole Lee.
Alan had a long relationship with Lockheed/ Lockheed Martin, first in the Military flying the SR-71 BlackBird reconnaissance aircraft and second as part of the mission support team for the space shuttle program at Cape Canaveral.
A Memorial Service with full Military Honors will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday, April 24, 2008 in the Chapel of Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando.
