Albert G. Franchio, Sr., age 91, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019.
Albert was born on May 28, 1928 in Tyrone, PA; son of the late John Franchio, Sr. and Mae Rose Franchio.
He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971 after 21 years of honorable service and serving in the Vietnam War. He went on to own Big Al's Fishing Reel Repair shop in Albany, GA for more than 30 years.
Albert is survived by his son, Albert G. Franchio, II and his wife, Courtney of Orlando, FL; his daughter, Jennifer Franchio of Leesburg, GA; three grandchildren, Floyd Tasaka, Jr. of Leesburg, GA, and Sydney and Chloe Franchio, both of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters. Kathleen Parmelee, Valdosta, GA, Virginia Lamanteer, Bridgetown, NJ, John Franchio, Jr., Hollidaysburg, PA and James Franchio, Tyrone, PA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph Franchio, brothers Michael, Joseph, Peter, Eugene, and Richard, sisters Irene Rupert, Mary Itinger, and Louise Sweitzer.
Inurnment with full military honors will be at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US-1, Mims, FL 32754 on August 23, 2019 at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Orlando VA Medical Center, (with Community Living Center noted in the memo line), 13800 Veterans Way, Attn: Voluntary Services, Orlando, FL 32827.
