Albert A. Myers

Brother Albert died of cancer on May 18th, 2020, at the age of 77. Albert moved to his current house at the age of eight and has lived there for almost 70 years. He was in Boy Scout when he was a boy. He participated in the highly adventurous boy scout camp in Philmont, New Mexico. Just like his father, hunting and fishing have been his lifelong hobbies since he was a child, and they spent a lot of time together in the forest and on the water. He loves Jesus and attended and graduated from Wheaton Theological Seminary. He joined in the navy from August 1965 to August 1971, during which he participated in the Vietnam War. During the War, he once asked one of his commanders whether he knew God.

He loves God, and went on many international missionary trips. It was during his missionary trip in China that he met his wife, Sister Ma Lin, fell in love and come to the United States. In 2008, he and his wife, Sister Ma Lin, started to participate in service for Bread of Life Church in Orlando and joined that church family. The next year, Sister Ma Lin was baptized and became a Christian. Albert served as a Youth Pastor and also participated in Sunday preaching. He has a strong passion for Chinese missions. Albert especially loves children, always teaching them Bible in great patience, and often taking children to fun activities such as dinning, fishing, and picking oranges. Whenever there was a new friend at the church, he would offer his care and very often would invite them to his home. He also helped a lot with his truck for moving furniture or for making fun trips with children. In order to communicate better with his Chinese brothers and sisters, he worked hard to learn Chinese. He loved his wife with a tender heart, and he loved the Lord even more. His Bible next to the chair in the living room was densely noted. Even at the last moment of his life, he kept calling "Lord".

At this moment, I believe everyone is experiencing some emotional perplexity. On one hand, we feel deep sorrow, because Albert has departed from us, although his voice and smile are still so vivid in our mind. Each of us may experience the decease of our loved ones. That is a heartbreaking life separation. However, from the view of faith, we know that this is everyone's lot. This world is full of suffering and sorrow. It is a blessing for Christians to be able to be with Christ after leaving this world. Hebrews 11:16 "Instead, they were longing for a better country -- a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." Therefore, the death of a Christian is not death, but resting in paradise, and he will be resurrected when Jesus returns. Therefore, we should turn grief into strength, learning from Albert for his love to God, love to people and pressing forward on the road of Christ.
