The oldest son of Robert Lewis Read and May Hiley Read, Albert Wesley Read was born in Orlando. During his life, Bert lived all over the State of Florida, from Gainesville to Key West, before finally settling in Palatka.
A hippie to the core, he preferred being out in the woods camping to just about anywhere else. He was a Jack of all trades but spent most of his working years in the kitchens of restaurants and bars. He was an amazing cook. Bert didn't know a stranger...he would talk your ear off if you let him and sure had some crazy stories.
He leaves behind his mother, May; siblings, Lora and Joe; daughters, Nicole and Rachel (Brandon); nephew, Paul and granddaughters, Kaitlyn (16), Madyson (5) and Aubre (3). Bert was the most optimistic man ever known and the King of the Impossible Dream.
He is truly missed by all who knew him.
