It is with a heavy heart we announce that on Saturday May 11th, 2019, Alexis Kate Fillinger, loving fiancé and mother of one, passed away at the age of 24.
Alexis was born on April 29th, 1995 in Orlando, Florida to Amy Carter and Christopher Durrenberger. She went to Lake Brantley High School and was on the high school dance team. On March 1, 2019 she became engaged to David Vargas. They welcomed their first and only child into the world on August 9th, 2018, Jacob Vargas.
Alexis was a dedicated stay at home mother. Her bond with her son was like no other. Alexis had a smile that lit up every single room she walked into. She had beauty, charm, and an independent spirit. She was bursting with life, vitality, and passion. She was a kind, loving, and a gentle soul. She leaves a huge emptiness in the hearts of all of us who loved her.
Alexis was preceded in death by her grandmother Terri Fillinger, grandfather Kenny Carter, great grandparents, great grandfather Glenn Whitsett, her aunt Karen Kay Fillinger, and her uncle Johnny Brosnan. She is survived by her fiancé David Vargas, her son Jacob Vargas, her parents Amy Carter and Christopher Durrenberger, her brother Riley Sullivan, her great grandmother Louise Whitsett and grandmother Fran Durrenberger, her aunt, Heather (Gregory) Wilson, and lots of cousins, aunts, and uncles.
There will be a public funeral service held on Saturday May 25th at Northland Church off of Dogtrack Road at 11 AM in Longwood, Florida. Flowers may be sent to Northland Friday or VCD early Saturday morning for the Fillinger funeral.
