Alfred E. Longmuir 4th – also known as Al and Butch – left mortality on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Advent Hospital, Winter Park, Florida as a result of illnesses that he had been battling. At the time of his death, he was surrounded by very close friends and family.
Al was born to Alfred & Eleanor (Vitanyi) Longmuir on 23 Sep 1954 at Mitchel AFB, Long Island, NY, joining an older sister. In 1957, his parents purchased a house in Mercerville, NJ where Al lived until he left home in 1972 to join the Air Force. He spent 4 years on active duty as a Security Police Specialist, serving in Arizona and 2 years in Germany.
Al was a very private individual but enjoyed being with his family, friends, and partners. He participated in many plays when he was younger, loved musicals, art, and some of the finer things in life. As is common in the Longmuir family, he was a jokester and quick of wit, bringing a smile and laughter to those around him.
His professional life ran the gambit from delivering newspapers, operating a restaurant, working for Disney in Orlando, managing a hotel in California, and being a flight attendant with Allegiant Airlines.
Burial in a veterans cemetery is being planned later this year where Al's ashes will be placed.
To honor Al's memory, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society
