Angel J. Ortiz, Command Sgt. Major, Retired, U.S. Army, age 91, of Orlando, FL, passed away on December 3, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family in Orlando.
Born in Yauco, Puerto Rico on January 18, 1927, he was a retired Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army and served during WW II, Korea, and Vietnam. He retired in 1968 after 26 years of honorable service. He was a retired member of Nationwide Insurance Company, an active member of St Isaac's Catholic Church of Orlando, and member of the American Legion.
He is preceded in death by his father, Juan Ortiz; mother, Zoraida Fournier; brother, Hector Ortiz; sister, Hilda Menendez; and granddaughter, Nicole Ileana Ortiz.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 73 years, Elsa R. Ortiz; his son, A.J. Ortiz; his daughter Elsa I. Blasiman Betancourt (Daniel Betancourt) of Orlando; granddaughter Michelle Alexi Peña (Marcello) of Bolivia; two great-grandchildren, Richelle and Santiago; his brother Jose A. Ortiz of Yauco, Puerto Rico; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822 on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
Funeral Services will be on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Newcomer Funeral Home - East Orlando Chapel at 11:00 am with Deacon Norm Levesque, officiating.
Entombment will follow with full military honors at Glen Haven Memorial Park, 2300 Temple Drive, Winter Park, FL.
