Angela Hughes
July 14, 1935 — April 18, 2023
Angela Hughes, age 87, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Hughes, parents, Emanuel and Anna Mavrikes, sisters, Catherine Theophylactos and Irene Mavres, and brother, Thomas Mavrikes.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane (Leonard Paquette) Hughes, son, William (Susan) Hughes, son, Michael F. (Dawn) Hughes, daughter, Barbara A. Hughes, grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Hughes, William C. Hughes, and Daniel Hughes, great-grandson, Benjamin Hughes, sister, Urania Elliott, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Angela was an avid reader and loved taking walks in the Florida warm weather. Angela and her daughter Barbara spent every summer vacation at a cabin in Roan Mountain State Park in Tennessee. While there Angela loved to get up early every morning and sit on the porch in her rocking chair, drinking coffee and soaking in the cool mountain air as she watched deer and other wildlife frolic.
Angela attended Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox church every Sunday in Orlando and she was an active member of the Holy Trinity Philoptochos. She was also a member of the Society of Wisdom. Angela found great peace in her faith.
Visitation is Monday, April 24, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with funeral service starting at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church of Greater Orlando, 1217 Trinity Woods Lane, Maitland, FL 32751.
Interment will be on Friday April 28, 2023 at 11am at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bedford Heights, OH.
Arrangements are by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Winter Park, FL.
