Angela Rae Crutchfield, age 24, sadly passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2005 surrounded by her family and friends. Born on July 8, 1981, she was life-long resident of Orlando and an amazing inspiration to everyone her life touched.
She was one of the top Reservation Specialists for the Discovery Cove and Sea World attractions winning multiple awards for sales and service during her 4 1/2 years there. She held a degree in Make-up Arts from the Joe Blasco School. She was a supporter of the Orlando arts community, a music lover, and an avid theater-goer.
Though born with Spina Bifida and Lupus (among several other medical conditions) Angela always led an active life. She depended on her wheelchair but was never limited by it, competing in multiple wheelchair sports and winning a national gold medal in weightlifting. She took great pride in her ability to support herself and to live independently.
Angela's memory continues in the hearts of her parents Diana Hopkins and Jefferson Crutchfield, her beloved sister Bethany Crutchfield and her step-father Jay Hopkins, all of Orlando; her grandparents, Betty and Malcolm Lucas of Cocoa, Arlene and Loyd Goodmon of Port Charlotte, Judy and James Crutchfield of Indialantic, Marcia Hopkins of Chantilly, VA, and Paul Hopkins of Rochester, NH; several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. She will also be remembered by a loving, nation-wide community of friends.
A memorial celebration will be held at the Parkway Baptist Church at 9000 Lake Underhill Rd. Orlando FL 32825, on Thursday, December 22 at 3 pm. Angela's favorite colors were pink and purple. The family requests colorful and casual attire. A covered dish reception will follow the memorial and guests are invited to bring a dish to share.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Angela's name to the Lupus Foundation of America (www.lupus.org/mem-hon).
