Anthony Alan Copley, born on October 27, 1955, in Germany, passed away unexpectedly on October 2 2024, in Orlando, Florida. He was a loving individual who cherished his family and cultivated lasting memories. Throughout his life, Anthony had a great sense of humor and believed strongly in the power of aspiration, often saying, "If you reach for the moon, you land among the stars."
Anthony's professional journey began after he attended Edgewater High School in Orlando and continued at Seminole Community College, where he studied database engineering and IT. His career included significant time working for Bell South in Seattle, Washington, as well as thriving as a private computer and IT consultant in Bradenton, Florida. He later joined Lockheed Martin as a database engineer and enjoyed this role until his retirement in 2022.
He enjoyed being outside, some of his favorite things outdoors were surfing, riding unicycles, and his Harley Davidson. His pride and joy was evident in his role as a stepdad and grandpa, which he regarded as one of his proudest accomplishments. Anthony also served as a member of the United States Army, demonstrating his commitment to service and his country.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Copley Rhodes; brother, Roderick Copley, Jr., and his wife, Karen; nephew, Raymond Blades, and his wife, Misty; nephew, Andrew Blades, and his wife, Heather; nephew, Ret. Lt. Robert Copley, and his wife, Megan; nephew, Stuart Smith; niece, Teresa Smith Chumley, and her husband, Lloyd; great niece, Abby Copley; cousin, Ray Wtulich, and his wife, Jill as well as many other cousins in Georgia and Alabama. He also leaves behind his step-daughters, Tabatha Paulson and Tanya Paulson Stansfield; step-granddaughter, Skylar Mattox; step-grandson, Tristen Mattox; and step-granddaughter, Alexis Stansfield.
Anthony was preceded in death by his father, Roderick Earl Copley; mother, Sarah Virginia Copley; uncle, Edward Smith; aunt, Ruth Smith; uncle, Edwin Wtulich; aunt, Carolyn Frances Smith-Wtulich; and brother-in-law, Edward Rhodes.
Anthony Alan Copley will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the love he had for his family. His legacy will live on through the memories shared with those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Anthony's memory can be given to the family for his final expenses or called/mailed directly to the funeral home.
