Anthony Maggio
06/20/1946 – 12/5/2024
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Anthony Maggio at the age of 78 on 12/5/2024. Anthony was born in Brooklyn, NY, spent his childhood there, and lived in Long Island during his teen years. He moved to Florida in 1994 to be closer to family. Anthony was proud to be a veteran of the US Army, former Garment District worker, and a Corrections Officer at Rikers Island Corrections Facility in NY. He is survived by his sons Christopher and Jon, daughter-in-law, Jenna, and three grandchildren, Jake, Kai, and Sydney.
Family was everything to Anthony and he will also be sorely missed by his sister, JoAnn, brother-in-law, Pierre; nephews, Russell, Jason, and Joseph and many cousins and friends that were dear to him and as close as siblings. He is predeceased by his parents, Rose and Gaspare, his brother, Russell, grandparents, and a host of aunts and uncles who were like extended parents to him.
Anthony was known for his sense of humor and quick wittedness. He coined phrases, such as “straight tru” for straight through, “Merry Kissa My Ass” for Merry Christmas and “Fart Smeller” for Smart Fellow. His stories will live on forever in our hearts. Anthony loved the ocean and snorkeling and had many fond memories of the time he lived in Key West. He was all about cool cars and we are convinced he arrived in heaven driving his beloved powder blue ’57 Chevy.
