Arlene Flores

1958 — 2024

Winter Park

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Arlene Flores, who passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 17, 2024 in Winter Park, Florida at the age of 66.

Arlene was born on August 16, 1958 in the gorgeous city of Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico. She was the daughter of Luz Elenia Lugo-Ramirez and Edwin Benito Ramirez and baby sister to Evelyn Ramirez and Olga ‘Chicky’ Ramirez. By the age of 3 she moved with her family to the Bronx where she attended PS 54 Elementary school on Freeman Street. After 12 years in New York, Arlene and her family returned to Bayamon, PR. She attended Dr. Augustine Stahl High School where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband Luis. At the age of 19 she competed in the Fiestas Patronales Queen Carnival contest and was crowned Miss Bayamon 1977. She was later invited onto Don Cholito’s program where they announced her invitation to the annual New York City Puerto Rican Day parade. In June of 1977 Arlene arrived to the prestigious parade to find they did not have a car for her to ride on, instead she told them she would walk the parade and enjoy every minute of it. In true Arlene fashion, she stole the show with her charm and exquisite beauty. Singing and dancing salsa with spectators along the parade route from start to finish, only stopping to quickly remove her shoes and keep on dancing. She was the sensation of the parade!

Arlene went on to Bayamon Regional College and married Luis Raul Flores-Vallines on April 15, 1979. She was a devoted wife who supported her husband during his Army career. She had 4 children, Jose R. Flores, Luis R. Flores, Daniel R. Flores and Mariel E. Flores whom she loved fiercely. She went back to school at the University of Texas at El Paso graduating with a Bachelor’s in Science in Nursing in 1996. She moved to Florida and dedicated 25-years to her nursing career touching the lives of so many with Orlando Health Regional Hospital.

During Arlene’s 66 years she dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren, closest friends and family. She was the ultimate protector, provider and confidant, to be loved by her was an honor and a privilege. She is greatly loved and will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, strength, and compassion to all those who knew her. She is survived by her husband Luis Raul Flores-Vallines, Children Jose Raul Flores, Luis Raul Flores (wife Jessica Flores), Daniel Raul Flores, Mariel Elenia Flores. Grandchildren Zachary Flores, Shawn Flores, Aidan Flores, Ethan Myers, Isabella Flores, Dominick Flores, Olivia Rosario-Flores.
