Arlene S. Smith, 85 of Jean Drive, Orlando, died August 17 after a long illness. She was born in Titusville, FL on July 10, 1923 and grew up on Merritt Island, FL. She graduated from Cocoa High School and moved to Orlando in 1949. She was a retired telecommunications operator; a Presbyterian; a 50 year member of Mizpah Chapter 190, Order of the Eastern Star; a lifetime member of the Central Florida PBX/Telecommunications Club; a member of BPO DOES Drove #66, Orlando; Women's Auxiliary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #3496, Orlando and AARP(National and Local #18). She is survived by daughter, Beverly Chambers of Denton, TX; son Milton L. Ward, Jr. of Millbrook, AL; two grandsons, Troy Ward of Tucson, AZ and Billy Ward of Holmen, WI; great- granddaughters Chloe and Sophie Ward of Tucson, AZ and niece, Tony Corbett. Visitation will be held from 4PM-7PM Wednesday, August 20 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando. Funeral services will be held at 1PM Thursday, August 21 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Glen Haven Memorial Park, Winter Park.
