Arthur Adrien, 89, of Ocoee, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at home. Born and raised in Lynn, MA he was the son of the late Arthur and Lydia (King) Adrien and was a graduate of Lynn English High School in the class of 1942. He later attended Bentley College, graduating with a B.S. in Accounting.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Arthur has left a beautiful legacy. As a member of our Greatest Generation, Art served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946, having escaped a Nazi prisoner of war camp and receiving shelter from a kind German family. He was passionate about horses, huskies, and hockey - especially his favorite Boston Bruins. A lover of New England clambakes, he also enjoyed cooking breakfast on the beach at home in Florida. He thoroughly enjoyed working with his hands and a good set of tools, often building things like bird houses and doll houses for his grandchildren. As a life-long accountant, he was always happy to provide his services for friends and neighbors. He will be missed by all those who knew him and loved him.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife, Penny, three stepsons, Gary Jones, Bruce Jones and Michael Jones, three grandchildren, Joseph Jones, Daniel Jones and Emily Jones. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Phyllis Bowlby and Joyce Smith.
Visitation will be held from 9AM-10AM, Tuesday, January 28 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Orlando. Funeral services will begin at 10:00AM. Interment with military honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
