Benjamin Rush Cady

June 6, 1932 — December 5, 2023

Benjamin Rush Cady, a man whose life embodied a thirst for adventure, peacefully passed away at the age of 91 on December 5, 2023, at home in Orlando, Florida. Born on June 6, 1932, in Trenton, NJ, to William Arthur Cady and Clara Stevens Cady, Ben's journey was marked by resilience, dedication to his faith, and an unyielding commitment to his family and ministry.

At 18 months old, after the loss of his mother, Ben, along with his older sister and brother, found themselves in a Philadelphia orphanage. Overcoming this hardship, Ben displayed remarkable resilience throughout his life's challenges. His passion for sports, including gymnastics, volleyball, swimming, snorkeling and tennis, mirrored his zest for thrilling escapades.

Following a brief tenure at Westchester State College, Ben heeded the call to serve in the Navy from 1952 to 1956 and served on the USS Coral Sea (CV-43) and reached the rank of AT2. It was during his service in the Philippines that he discovered his profound faith in Jesus Christ—a transformative moment that directed the course of his life. Inspired by Isaiah 6:8, he devoted himself to God's will, answering, Lord, 'Here am I. Send me!'

At Rockmont Bible College, Ben encountered the love of his life, Connie. Their union marked the beginning of a missionary expedition with Overseas Christian Servicemen's Centers/Cadence International in 1960. Together, they served in the Philippines, Japan, Missouri, Korea, and Hawaii, sharing the gospel and their lives with the military community. Their commitment to family and the military was unwavering.

Benjamin Rush Cady is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Connie, and their children Janelle (Mike), Randy (Kelly), and Doug (Adele). His enduring legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren Jessica (Kevin), Seth (Kelly), Jocelyn, Sarah, Hannah (Justin), Jennifer (Brandon), Ben, Rachel (Steve), Kayla (Sam), and great-grandchildren, Connor, Liam, Raelyn, Joe, Craig, Tobias, Bryden, Brielle, Beckham, Sutton, Jovie, and Remy, each a testament to his steadfast faith, love, and adventurous spirit. While preceded in death by his siblings Helen and Bill and his son Craig, Ben's legacy thrives within his loving family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

The burial is scheduled for December 15 at 10:30 am, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Life on December 16 at 10:30 am at Dover Shores Baptist Church, 551 Gaston Foster Road, Orlando, Florida.
