Bernice Brislin (nee Ulatowski/Uhle), 93, born to Leon and Helen (Haydock) Uhle in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, died on November 20 with her family at her side. A graduate of Nanticoke High School and Drexel Institute (now University), Philadelphia, she enjoyed life-long learning. Following college, she worked for several businesses including Carr Consolidated Biscuit and her father's agency, General Automobile, Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. She then became a devoted mother and homemaker.
A longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre and Mountain Top, Pennsylvania, she moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida in 1993 shortly after her husband's retirement where she was a member of Saint Mary Magdalen Church and took delight in her grandsons. An avid storyteller, she passed on family history, wisdom and folklore with great enthusiasm.
Bernice is predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Thomas Edward Brislin, her sister, Eleanor Davis, and her Brislin in-laws: Joseph (Mary), Mary Rose, and James. She is survived by her sons, Thomas A. Brislin (Marilyn) of Apollo Beach, Florida, William L. Brislin (James Rowell) of Orlando, and two grandsons, Brent Brislin of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Bryan Brislin of Tampa, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bernice's Funeral Mass will be held at Mary, Mother of God Chapel, San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, 2400 Dike Road, Winter Park, Florida 32792, on Monday, December 13 at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow in St. Francis Hall. Note: This is not the chapel at Queen of Angels Cemetery on the same campus.
Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township (Wilkes-Barre). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
