Bette Sharon Tallen, age 73, of Winter Park, FL passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023
She was born in New York City, NY in 1950 to the late Nathaniel "Teddy" and Anne G. Tallen.
Bette graduated from Hunter College High School, City College of New York for undergraduate, and the University of Michigan is where she obtained a PhD in Political Science. She taught at Ramapo College of New Jersey, Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and retired from University of Central Florida.
Professor Tallen taught Political Science, Women's Studies, and led Diversity and Inclusion training for students and faculty. She was an ardent feminist, advocating for women and children, including work in a shelter for battered women. After retirement she participated in the Guardian Ad Litem program representing the best interests of at risk children in legal proceedings.

Bette is survived by her wife Carol Ann Thomas, whom were married on November 16, 2019. Also survived by her stepson Sean Jepson, (m) Miranda McMillan, Cousins, John Elias, Jenny Elias, Jennifer Miller, Rhonda Fonseca (m) Angel Fonseca, and their children Alycia Fonseca and Angel Javier Fonseca II, and Nieces, Robin Speigel, and grandniece Ayla Fietelson, Meredith Carroll and grandnieces Eleanor Carroll and Vivian Carroll.
Private services will be held by the family.
