Betty Bort

Betty Jane Bort, 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 3:26 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family. Betty was born on July 21, 1920, in Sioux City, IA. She is the daughter of the late George and Eudora Erickson. Betty was preceded in death by her husband's Charles Shideler in 1955 and Stanley Bort in 1996. Betty was a wonderful woman who know how to welcome guests into her home and was always the life of the party, and she knew how to decorate a Christmas tree like nobody else. Betty Boop loved her music especially her favorite song Rose Room. She was up on the times and was even posting on Facebook till she was 95. Betty is survived by her two children a daughter, Cynthia Hess-Jaffe, and a son, Steven (Janet) Shideler; grandchildren Carrie Jane Hess, Sarah (Peter) Sukus, Christopher Jaffe, and Neil Shideler. As well as her great grandsons, Dylan Hess, Christian Sukus, and Sebastian Sukus. She is further survived by her friends in Naples: especially her very best friend Ruthie Fralick. As well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In accordance with Betty's wishes no services will be held. Instead a celebration of life will be held at a later day in Naples.
