Betty Lou Ranelin was born on October 11, 1936 in Steubenville, Ohio to William and Willa Mae Peterson. She was the third of 5 children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 55 years, Myron E. Ranelin Jr.; son Myron E. Ranelin III; two brothers William Peterson Jr. and Jimmy Peterson; and sister Dorothy Clay.
After graduating from Steubenville High School in 1954, Betty attended secretarial school and upon completion, began working in the office of Myron E. Renelin, Esq. In true love story fashion, Betty and Myron were married on October 22, 1955. Three beautiful children were born from this fateful union; Myron III, Deidra and Janine. After raising a family and working as a housewife for 15 years, Betty fulfilled her desire to become a small business owner. She obtained her license to practice cosmetology and immediately opened her own hair salon in downtown Steubenville. After many wonderful years in Ohio, Betty and Myron retired and relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1981. Betty completed her professional career serving as an Administrative Assistant for Orange County Public Schools.
Betty stayed physically active throughout most of her adult life. She was a great swimmer and worked as a life guard at the local pool during the summer months. She enjoyed playing golf and was an avid bowler, competing in bowling leagues throughout the years. She loved playing games of bid whist with her friends and family and would certainly let you know when you were losing.
Betty was warm, kind and loving to her family and to others. She never met a stranger and always had a heart to do what she could to help others. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother and her 55 year marriage to husband Myron, Jr. highlighted the special bond they shared.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Jean Hull; two children, Deidra Barker (Keith) and Janine Lee; four grandchildren, Jasmine Lee, Jerica Anaya (Ariel), Mia Barker, Donovan Barker and a host of other relatives and friends.
