Betty Jean West (née Hall), born November 17, 1947, in Mobile, AL, peacefully passed away on February 22, 2025, in Orlando, FL. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and love.
Betty was the daughter of James Mason Hall of Evergreen, AL (July 24, 1921 – October 10, 1995) and Hazel G. Carr of Cotton, GA (May 8, 1930 – February 24, 1992).
A graduate of Apopka High School, she went on to serve the community with honor during her 21-year career at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Her commitment to service was matched only by her boundless compassion—qualities that shone brightly in her professional life and at home.
In retirement, Betty found great joy in fostering animals, offering them a safe haven and the love she generously shared with everyone around her. Her home became a sanctuary not only for her family but also for the many animals fortunate enough to receive her care.
Betty is survived by her sons, Floyd E. West, Jr. and his wife, Tahra West, and C. Shawn West and their father, Floyd E. West, Sr. She leaves behind a proud legacy through her grandchildren: Floyd West III, Graham West, Madeline West, Savannah West, Cole West, and Colton Stutzman. She was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Hall, and her daughter-in-law, Nicole West, and is fondly remembered by her surviving brother, George Nobles.
Her memory will forever be a guiding light—a reminder of the power of kindness, sacrifice, and love. A funeral service will be held at Oasis at Conway Gardens Church, 1900 Conway Gardens Road, Orlando, FL 32806, on Friday, February 28th at 1:00 PM. Guests are welcome to pay their respects from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in her honor to Pet Alliance Orlando.
Betty Jean West’s spirit, warmth, and dedication to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
