Billy Lamon Copeland
March 23, 1937- February 4, 2014
Billy L Copeland, age 77, of Longwood, Fl. passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Billy was a native of Pavo, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-1962. He was an aircraft mechanic acquiring his private pilot's license independently.
Mr. Copeland worked throughout the world, always bringing his wife and children along for the adventure. The Family worked/lived in California, Florida, Tennessee, Michigan, U.S. Virgin Islands, Egypt, and Iran. His last overseas attachment was Jeddah Saudi Arabia to the U.S. consulate.
In the early 1980's he and his wife Maria opened Classie's Pub; a 50-60's Rock N Roll bar with great success. Attempts to imitate their endeavor were made by large franchises with little to no success.
Billy was an avid fisherman and lover of antique cars. He restored many. He also loved his garden and scratch off cards.
His family has always been a tight knit unit . Always in arms reach of each other, with an arm ready to go around each other.
Billy is survived by his wife, Maria Copeland, daughter Dona Harden, daughter, Tracy Sulyma, son, Billy L Copeland Jr., sister, Betty Brooks, Valdosta, Georgia, seven grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
"Our daddy was a shining example of a life well lived. We are fortunate God chose mom and he for each other, therefore giving us a wonderful life. We have been and are blessed. He is forever in our hearts, always on our minds..into God's care.'"
