Bonnie June Romine

June 30, 1932 — January 6, 2016

Bonnie June Ohl Romine moved to Orlando, Fla. in 1971 from Sioux City, IA where she worked as a waitress for Perkins Restaurant, LaCosta Blvd for much of her life. But when she retired some 13 years ago, she didn't stop taking care of others.

In her later years, she lived with her daughter and grandson in Oviedo, FL. She continued the things she loved by continuing to take care of her family, cooking meals, doing laundry and caring for the family pets. But most importantly, she was someone you could talk to. Whether it was telling crazy stories about her life or just listening to other's when they had a bad day, she was always there for her family and friends. She was always there … well, up until she wasn't.

On the evening of Jan. 6, 2016, Bonnie's life ended at the age of 83, at Florida Hospital South in Orlando, Fla., with her daughter Paula and grandson Brentley holding her hands.

Of course, when life ends on earth, another begins in heaven – and not only did heaven get one heck of a waitress, but they got one heck of a mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Bonnie was born June 30, 1932, in Fairbank, Iowa, one of twelve children. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Irma Ohl, brothers - Delmar, Robert, Norman, Melvin, and sisters - Dorothy, Lois, Karen, Marianne, and Irma Jean.

Bonnie is survived by her children, sons - James, Keith, Stephen, Richard, Terrance and daughter Paula, 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, her brother Ray and sister Bernice.

While the years took a toll on her body, Bonnie never stopped doing the things she enjoyed. She loved her steak and baked potato for dinner along with a cold beer. She collected coins and enjoyed reading books, and she read a lot them! She enjoyed doing Sudoku puzzles and playing games on her computer with her Facebook family and friends.

Most of all, though, she loved people. It didn't matter who you were – family, friend, nurse, UPS man – she treated you like her best friend (and talked your ear off!)
Boy do we miss her voice now. We miss Bonnie and everything about her, which is why we will gather together at Newcomer Funeral Home (895 S. Goldenrod Rd., Orlando, Fla., 32822) on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016, from 10 a.m. to noon (service begins promptly at 11 a.m.) in celebration of Bonnie's life. The family requests that you join them in the continuation of this celebration (57 S. Oxalis Dr., Orlando, 32807) immediately following the memorial.

In lieu of flower the family requests that you make a donation to the National Kidney Foundation under the name "A Kidney for Paula".
