Bonnie Faye Roberts

April 21, 1921 — January 4, 2018

On April 21, 1921, Bonnie Faye Prevatt was born on the East side of Sumter County, in the small community of Linden, Florida, to the parents of Claude Debreau Prevatt and Mamie Mae Sloan Prevatt. She was of the 4th generation in the Groveland and Lake County area. Her schooling began in Fort McCoy, then to Okahumpka and ultimately on to Groveland, Florida.

It was at Groveland High School where she met her husband to be, and in 1938, she and Samuel Theophilus Frazier were married at Center Hill, Florida. To this union was born three children -- Betty Jean, Cynthia Marie and Samuel Steve. Added to this lineage were 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

In 1962, Bonnie lost her husband, Sam, to cancer. With 2 teenage children still at home, it became necessary for her to work 7 days a week, often holding down 2 full time jobs. Having only completed the 10th grade before marrying Sam, Bonnie re-enetered high school at the age of 52 and graduated 2nd in her class. She continued on with her educations, obtaining her nursing degree and serving as the surgical medications nurse at two Florida hospitals -- Putnam General and Waterman Memorial.

On December 7, 1941, Bonnie received salvation from the Lord and has never faltered nor strayed from her walk with Him. Her experience and love of God enabled her to be a faithful companion to her husband and a devoted example of motherhood. As a mother, she diligently taught her children the principles and standards of God's Word, not only by instructions, but more importantly by living a Godly life. Her paramount and fervent prayer was all that her family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren might be saved.

Several years after losing her husband Sam, Bonnie married a minister, Estes Monroe Roberts. Both Bonnie and Estes were instrumental in the procurement of funds necessary for the construction and building of churches and church parsonages in several cities in Florida.

Being a licensed minster and teacher, as well as a devout student of God's Word, Bonnie has carried and proclaimed His Word throughout every state in the Southeastern United States. Her ministry began in 1941 and never ended -- even preaching a message at the Church General Assembly at the age of 90 and again at the age of 91.

Through the years of her servitude to God, her preaching and teaching has literally touched the lives of thousands of people.

Because of her life and stand for God and His Truths, her phone was constantly busy from calls across the country with questions concerning "what was right or wrong" or "what path should be followed" -- The general consensus was "call Sister Bonnie and ask her where she stands on the matter and then follow her advice, because she would be following God."

Bonnie Roberts' life has been exemplary of a wife, a mother and a faithful servant of God. It can well be said of her -- "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God" and like the Apostle Paul..."For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all that love His appearing."
