It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, son, and friend, Brian Edward Brooks, who left this world unexpectedly on February 26, 2025, at the age of 49. Brian was born on May 25, 1975, in Orlando, Florida, where he spent his life and ultimately passed away. Though his time with us was far too short, his life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Brian was a man of great character and boundless warmth. He was known for his infectious smile, his unwavering generosity, and his endless dedication to those he loved. A devoted husband to his wife, Ashley Brooks, and a loving father to his five children — Brooke, Rowan, Lucas, Harrison, and Maxwell Brooks — Brian’s greatest joy in life was his family. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his love and pride for his children knew no bounds.
Brian is also survived by his loving parents, Laurie Mendoza (Ken Vinnem) and Charles Brooks (Patricia Morrison), his two brothers, Benjamin Brooks (Heather) and Wayne Kauffman (Marlaina), niece and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including extended family, friends, and coworkers, who were touched by his kindness and positive spirit.
Throughout his life, Brian had a deep love for the sport of baseball, which was woven into the fabric of his identity. As a diehard Chicago Cubs fan, his passion for the game ran deep. Whether it was watching a game or teaching his children, baseball was more than just a sport for Brian—it was a shared experience, a bond that connected him to those around him, and a source of great joy. His love for the Cubs, and the thrill of their long-awaited 2016 World Series win, was a testament to his unwavering optimism and perseverance in life.
In addition to his passion for baseball, Brian dedicated several years of his life serving as a Firefighter and EMT for Alachua County. His time in public service was a reflection of his selflessness and his desire to make a difference in his community. Brian was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need, and his work as a first responder left an indelible mark on the lives of many. His bravery, compassion, and willingness to serve others were qualities that defined him both on and off the job. At the time of his passing he had been in leadership with Fedex for several years.
Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in the beautiful memories we shared with him. Brian’s legacy will live on through the lives of his children, who carry forward his warmth, strength, and loving spirit.
A memorial service celebrating Brian’s life will be held on March 5, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL 32792, from 6 pm - 8pm, where friends and family are invited to honor and remember him.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help support Brian’s five children and their future education, ensuring that his legacy of love, guidance, and support continues to shape their lives. Donate Here
