Burl Langston

August 3, 1949 — December 14, 2014

Burl Clyde "Jiji" Langston, age 65, of Orlando, FL passed away December 14, 2014.

He was born on 3 August, 1949 to two US Army veterans, Clyde and Delaine Langston. He had one brother, Brian and two twin sisters, Marilyn and Carolyn. He was married to Tomiko Kuroda and had two children, Yuki and Joji. He had three grandchildren (Shuji, Momoka and Motoki).

He graduated from Little Cypress High School, Orange, Tx. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and designated a radioman (RM). Some of his duty stations included USS Robert Owens based in Pensacola, Florida and USS Kirk/USS Blueridge based in Yokosuka, Japan. While assigned to the USS Blueridge he deployed to the Middle East in support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He retired in 1991 as a Chief Petty Officer and combat veteran after serving honorably for 21 years.

Burl was a man of many diverse interests. He had a passion for art and was an accomplished artist. He often volunteered his services and spent his free time teaching art to anyone interested. He loved to read, listen to music, watch movies and laugh at his own jokes.

Burl was involved in many volunteer and community services. These included Salvation Army and American Society for Prevention to Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). While serving with the Salvation Army he was recognized for collecting more donations locally than anyone else in a single day.

Some of his favorite personal embodied quotes:
"At least I still got my good looks"
"Never get old, son. There's no future in it"

Burl continuously acknowledged and was thankful for all the people who assisted him in his life journey. He loved and appreciated life and all people in it.

A gathering is scheduled for Friday, 19 December from 2-4pm at the Newcomer Funeral home (East Orlando Chapel).
