Carl H. Ulbrich passed away peacefully at his home early on Monday, May 23, 2016. He was born on January 15, 1930 in Chicago Illinois to the parents of Herman and Elisabeth Ulbrich. Carl was a loving husband for 62 years and is survived by his wife Betsy Sanders Ulbrich and three children Scott (Sue) Ulbrich of Salt Lake City, Utah, Beth (Randy Martin) of Pecatonica, Illinois and Peggy Otten of Grayslake, Illinois. Carl was blessed with 5 grandchildren Eric Ulbrich, Emilye Martin, Tyler, Carlye and Derek Otten.
Carl graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Engineering and had an award winning career designing heat treating furnaces. After graduation Carl served his country in the army during the Korean conflict. He enjoyed spending his free time on the golf course, fishing and woodworking. Carl had an amazing spirit, a deep sense of humor and approached life with eternal optimism, which was only exceeded by his resonant tenor voice which could be heard every Sunday at mass.
While raising their family in Illinois, Carl was a valued community leader and was very involved in civic affairs. He was a devoted member of St. Mary of the Angels Episcopal Church in Orlando.
A celebration of Carl's life will take place on Friday June 17th at 11:00 am at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 6316 Matchett Road, Orlando, Florida 32809.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Carl's memory to St. Mary of the Angels Church or University of Michigan, College of Engineering, 1221 Beal Avenue, Ann Arbor Michigan, 48109.
