Carmela Corbell (aged 97) passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 4, 2020.
Born to Calogera and Salvatore Rizzo in New York City during the early 1920s, she was the eldest of 3 sisters.
She was the first member of the family to graduate High School, and also the first of the three sisters to get married right after WWII.
She had 2 children ( Robert and James ) which she loved dearly. Her greatest love was taking care of her 2 sons, and teaching them the value of education and hard work.
She worked as a waitress, a sewing machine operator, and a bank clerk, until she retired in the early 70s. She loved to sew, crochet, and make home crafts such as blankets and shawls. She also loved music from broadway shows, big band concerts, and collecting soundtrack albums. Her favorites were Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland, Tommy Dorsey, and Glen Miller.
First one born, and last one to pass among her sisters, she will always be remembered for her positive outlook on life. Carmela is survived by her son Robert, and two grandchildren Jaclyn and Jeffrey. She was loved by all who met her.
