Carmella Maude Giordano departed this life on Monday, November 28, 2016 in Orlando, FL. Carmella was born on September 22, 1930 in Stamford, CT to the late Joseph and Esther Sabato Guglielmo.
Carmella will be remembered as an independent, honest, honorable and courageous woman who cherished her faith, family, and friends.
Carmella was predeceased by her son, Rick in December of 2012; and she leaves memories to be cherished by her twin sister, Rita; children: Esther-Marie, Vincent, Vera-Lynn and Angelo; daughters-in-law: Cecelia Lampetelli, Susan Betterly and Karen Atkinson; grandchildren: Daniel, Christin, Joshua, Lynn, Carina and Alana; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
After graduating high school in Stamford, CT, Carmella raised a rambunctious brood of five children. With her unending encouragement, all five reached the highest honors in scouting, completed their studies, and became successful in their chosen professions. Carmella served as the First Lady of Stamford from 1967 – 1969 and worked as a bookkeeper for the family businesses, and for Dr. Svedlow's family medical practice. In 1993, Carmella moved to Orlando Florida, and began volunteer work with Blessed Trinity that continued for more than 20 years.
Carmella was passionate about many hobbies including sewing, knitting, baking, jigsaw puzzles and crocheting. She especially enjoyed sharing her handiwork with family, friends, and US Armed Forces. Many US soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan are wearing caps knitted by Carmella. She enjoyed Bridge and earned Bronze Life Master.
A mass to celebrate Carmella's life will take place at 9:00 am on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 at Blessed Trinity in Orlando, FL. Interment will be in Stamford, CT at a later date.
