Carol Winters Balcom, age 71, of Apopka, Florida passed away on Tuesday, December 5th in Orlando.
Carol was born on March 5th, 1952, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to her parents Edwin Stanton Winters and Dorothy Loretta Winters. The family moved to Tampa, Florida when she was a young child. She was one of twelve children.
Carol was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put her family before herself and got the most joy from spending time with her family. Her favorite activities included vacations with the family to the beaches on the west coast of Florida and visiting her family in Tampa.
In addition to being a great mother to her two daughters, Carol had a huge heart for all children and spent many years taking care of preschool children in her home daycare where she was known as "Miss Carol" until she retired in 2010. She met many wonderful families through the daycare and kept in touch with them through the years.
Carol is survived by her husband of 51 years, Michael; daughters Chrissy Sawyer (Lance) and Missy Larum (Kyle), and four grandchildren - Weston, Taylor, Colin, and Austin. Carol also leaves behind her siblings Shirley Davidson Deppert (Bob); Janice Hughes (Bob); Sandy Benton; Donna Rodriguez, Dwayne Winters (Penny), and Lorie Joyce (Gary) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 16th at Journey Christian Church in Apopka, Florida (1965 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Apopka, FL 32703). Services will immediately follow at 12 pm.
