Orlando

In the early hours of February 26, 2025, Carol A. Clay, a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, peacefully succumbed to a long and arduous battle with multiple sclerosis, having endured its challenges valiantly for over 50 years. Born on October 11, 1940, in Windsor, Ontario, Carol embarked upon a life that bore witness to her unwavering spirit and tenacity.

Carol's journey began in the United States in Detroit, Michigan, where she graduated from Northern High School before advancing her education at the University of Detroit, acquiring a certificate as a court stenographer. Her career path was marked by a dedication to service, culminating in her esteemed role as an Executive Secretary for Ford Motor Company—a position she held for a remarkable twenty-five years until her well-deserved retirement.

Throughout her life, Carol found immense joy in the company of her family and friends. A gifted hostess, she welcomed loved ones into her beautiful home, creating a sanctuary of warmth and laughter. Despite the limitations posed by her disability, Carol ensured that her home was a place where connections flourished and memories were made, often culminating in delightful gatherings enlivened by laughter and refreshing splashes in her pool.

A steadfast devotee of her faith, Carol identified deeply as a Jehovah's Witness, embracing her spirituality with profound pride. Her unyielding commitment to her beliefs led her to a notable role as a Pioneer, dedicating over 40 years to the service work for Jehovah. In her steadfast faith, she found solace and strength, often expressing her gratitude for Jehovah’s sustaining support throughout her life’s trials.

Carol leaves behind her two beloved sons, Louis (Tito) Andrews of Nashville, Tennessee, and Michael Fredrick Andrews of East Lansing, Michigan. She is also survived by two sisters, Kay Oliver and Karen Stanton, hailing from Phoenix, Arizona, along with her devoted daughter-in-law, Dorinda Carter Andrews. The legacy of her nurturing spirit continues through her six granddaughters—Markitta Richardson, Zhane Andrews Ivana Andrews DeMyers Elaina Andrews, Maya Andrews, and Taliyah Andrews; and her six great-granddaughters, all who will forever carry her love in their hearts. Additionally, Carol will be fondly remembered by her niece, Laura Richardson, and nephews, Jason Richardson and Mark Phillips.

Though now departed, Carol's indomitable spirit and her remarkable ability to defy the odds of her illness will be celebrated and cherished by all who knew her. She courageously outlived many predictions regarding her health, living a life rich in love and resilience—a true testament to her character and spirit.

Preceding her in death were her son, Shawn Edward Clay, and her parents, Fredrick Highgate and Marion Craig. Although Carol is reunited with her loved ones in the presence of Jehovah, her legacy of faith, love, and endurance will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
