CASPER HENRY ROBERTS entered into eternal life Wednesday, August 30th. Born in Atlanta, GA in 1924 to Carl and Birdie Mae (Edwards) Roberts, Casper joined the U.S. Navy during the beginning of WWII and served all over the world. His duty stations included Panama, Balboa, the Galapagos Islands (escorting the barges that would build the air landing on the Island of Baltra), Ecuador, Columbia, Venezuela, Jamaica, Cuba, Bermuda, Gibraltar, Algiers and other areas in South Africa, Tunisia (traveling via river), Sicily (assigned to Patton's 7th Army), Italy, Capri, Algiers and Oran, Hawaii, Guam, Pelillu and Anniewetah. Casper served his country with pride and re-enlisted during the Korean action, serving as head of special forces in Bainbridge, MD from 1952 to 1955.
Casper followed his brother Jack to Orlando and started the family business Roberts Awning and Venetian Blind Company, leaving only to serve in the Korean action. In 1962, Roberts Awning was sold, becoming first TubMaster Corp. on Virginia Drive and later TubMaster-SkyMaster Corp. Casper had the architectural gifts to make Jack's visions into reality. He revolutionized the method of extruding plastics and polycarbonates, giving companies such as Dow Chemical and General Electric new possibilities for discovery. Casper was an avid golfer and a member of Rio Pinar Country Club; during his life he played most of the PGA courses in the US. His desire for creating continued after retirement as he worked at remodeling and building projects. His passion became building trust, love and character in his grandchildren; he delighted in his role as Pappa!
Casper is survived by Patricia, his wife of 47 years, and eight children with their families: Layne Roberts (Gilda) and children Darrell, Lanae, Brittany, & Rebekah Rayer (with Rebekah's children Payton (deceased), Logan, Ryan and Cooper); Debbie Hinson (Tommy) and children Michelle (with her daughter Brianna) and Keith; Karen Gardner (Mark) and children Nathan (Megan and son Draven) and Christopher; Annette Roberts and daughter Sierra; Kimberly Roberts; Kent Roberts and children Brooke, Brent, and Lexee; Markham Roberts and children Elizabeth, Lauren, Taylor, Matthew, and Zander; Russell "Buster" Roberts (Nina) and daughter Megan.
