Catherine S. Jones

Catherine S Jones, 85, of Orlando, entered into rest on December 27th, 2014. She was born in Ocoee on November 22nd, 1929. Catherine married Donald B Jones on October 5th, 1952. She and Donald celebrated their 62nd anniversary this year. She was a military wife and homemaker who fiercely defended her children. "Miss Kitty" loved cooking and baking – anyone could stop by at any time and have a hot meal. Neighborhood kids would bring injured and abandoned birds and small animals to her, and she would nurse them back to health. She loved flowers and gardening, and when her children were grown and had children of their own, she loved planting flowers and her garden in the springtime in preparation for family summer vacations at their Smoky Mountain cabin in Robbinsville, NC. And boy, did she love shopping at Big Lots! She was preceded in death by her son Donald B Jones Jr and grandson Jason D Vaught. Catherine is survived by her husband Donald, and her children Ronald and Yolonda "Diane", 7 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 335 East State Road 434 Longwood, FL and interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road Gotha, FL 34734.
