Charles H. Kating, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, July 16, 2020. Charles was born in Pryor, Oklahoma to Everett and Ruth Kating. However, he spent most of his life in Florida.
He is survived by his 3 daughters, Karen, Kathy, and Connie, all of Longwood, Florida. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, "Ann" Kating, and one brother, Tommy Kating. Charles has 2 surviving brothers, Kenneth and Merle Kating.
Charles served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following his time in the service, he worked as a mechanic for many years. He also retired from the Division of Forestry in 1995.
He loved woodworking, camping, fishing, and playing cards with friends. He and his wife enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They often took their grandchildren camping and fishing in their motor home. Charles, better known as "Dad," was truly an angel to all that knew and loved him.
He definitely will be missed by his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as many people that loved him and that he loved.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Seminole Chapel, 335 E. State Road 434, Longwood, FL 32750. The funeral service will begin at 12:30 PM. Interment at Longwood Memorial Gardens will follow, where Charles will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife.
