Cheryl Long Akers

Cheryl Long Akers, age 70, of Longwood, FL passed away on October 18, 2018 at Florida Hospital Altamonte after battling ovarian cancer for almost 9 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Long and her mother, Lorraine Long.
She is survived by her son, Nicholas (Amanda) Akers, and husband Wayne Akers, as well as two brothers, Gary (Norma) Long of Mercersburg, Pennsylvania , and Stuart (Gloria) Long of Duncannon, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by five nieces and four nephews.

Cheryl was an incredible and loving mother and wife. She was an immensely tender and caring mother and friend. All who knew her felt her sweet spirit.
Cheryl was a teacher for 30 years. She was passionate about education and she was a shining light in many, many students' lives. She often volunteered for elementary schools and encouraged her fellow teachers through mentorships and friendships.

Cheryl dearly loved the Lord. She hid His word in her heart and often would journal about His Goodness.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals, & Receptions - South Seminole Chapel, 335 E State Road 434, Longwood, Florida 32750. The funeral service will begin at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Longwood Memorial Gardens, 929 N Grant St, Longwood, Florida 32750.
