LTC Chester Deane Fowler, USA (ret.)
1954 - 2017
Chester Deane Fowler, 63, of Lake County, FL, passed away October 10th, 2017, after a life filled with laughter, love, and family.
He was born in Pocahontas, AR on June 29th, 1954 to C.C. Fowler, engineer and WWII pilot, and Charline (Brower) Fowler, artist, wife, and mother. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and received his master's degree from the University of Florida. He proudly served almost 22 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and pursued a follow-on career in engineering.
He is survived by:
his wife and best friend of thirty-six years, Deborah Fowler,
his brother, James R. "Bob" Fowler,
his two sons, Wayne and Emily Manuel,
Matthew Manuel and Genevieve Tyrrell,
his daughter, Christina Fowler,
and two granddaughters, Kiersten and Vivian Manuel.
His kindness touched the lives of those who knew him. He was a gentleman of the truest kind. He was gifted in Dad jokes. He loved attending (and shouting at) Florida Gators' games. Military and spy fiction novels were his favorite reads, but he also enjoyed watching a good thriller. The man could also cook a mean bowl of chili. His wife will miss his support and cheering during her race events. Making his granddaughters laugh might have been one of his most favorite past times. He could fly a baby through the air with awesome sound effects. And when he wasn't away pursuing his love of engineering, his routine during the week included walking along park trails in Lake County with his wife and hound dog.
His enthusiasm for life was palpable. Though we will always keep his memory in our hearts, he will be profoundly missed.
Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 24 at the Hickory Point Pavilion in Hickory Point Park, 27341 State Road 19, Tavares, FL 32778. In lieu of flowers, please give to those charities that honor our military veterans, such as Homes for Heroes, Wounded Warriors, Defenders Lodge, etc.
