Christopher (Chris) Robert Walsh of Casselberry, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 3rd at the age of 79.
Son of the late Caroline and Harold Walsh of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Chris is survived by his sister Kathleen Walsh Conaughty, nieces Katy Estes and Mary Claire Estes, nephew Ted Estes, and Chris's dear friend, Steve Herman.
Born September 13th,1944 in Evanston, Illinois, Chris moved with his family to Altamonte Springs in 1958. Chris graduated from Forest Lake Academy and attended Stetson University's School of Music. He was a talented and accomplished musician in theatre organ and voice. He entertained at many venues throughout Central Florida.
Chris sang in choirs and played the organ for many local Episcopal churches. Chris could hear any song and instantly play it by ear alone. He had many passions and pursued them throughout his life including model trains, steam locomotives, antique cars, and vintage phonographs and records. Chris traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad to enrich his understanding of theatre organs and steam trains and further his love of opera.
One of Chris's greatest attributes was his empathetic and caring nature. This was most evident in his dedication to disabled children and adults. Chris spent more than 15 summers as a volunteer at Camp Challenge, an Easterseals Camp for special needs children and adults in Sorrento, Florida.
The service for Chris will be held at St. Matthews Episcopal Church on January 28th at 1:00 pm at 5873 North Dean Road, Orlando, Florida 32817, with the Reverend Doctor Strenth officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
