Claran Sue (Selby) Manis, age 75, of Lakeland, FL, formerly of Orlando, FL, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at Consulate Health Care at Lake Parker in Lakeland, FL. She was the widow of the late Dwight Lee Manis, Sr. & Robert Paul Barnette.
Claran was born on March 16, 1943 in Columbus, IN; daughter of the late Clarence and Elsa (Lientz) Selby. She had a strong Christian faith and was an active member of multiple churches. Claran enjoyed cooking, drawing, jewelry making and authored a book. She was also was an avid collector of many different things.
Claran worked for Woolworth as a bookkeeper, seasonal worker for the Post Office and a phone operator for Southern Bell among others. She was known for her attention to detail and meticulous record keeping.
Claran is survived by her three sons, Dwight Lee Manis, Jr., Robert Daniel Barnette, and Paul Douglas Barnette; two grandchildren, Christopher Barnette, and Becky Barnette; and her brother, Philip Selby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dwight, Sr. and Robert, and a brother, Daniel Selby.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – East Orlando Chapel, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822.
Graveside Funeral Services will be on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Orlando, Florida 32834, with Pastor Tom Hensley, officiating.
Claran has requested no black be worn, nor black vehicles be driven to the gatherings as this should not be a sad day.
