Claudia Kamenzind Giblin, 66, departed this Earth on April 6, 2021.
A resident of Casselberry, Fla., Claudia was born on July 27, 1955, in Pittsburgh. She grew up in Pittsburgh, before moving to Daytona Beach, Fla., as a young woman, then settled in New Orleans in the late 1970s. She married Mike Giblin, and they had two children: Erin and "Little" Mike.
Claudia became a cosmetologist while also being an incredible mom. She helped with Girl Scouts and karate for her kids, and was always involved with their education. Claudia also took on extra odd jobs flagging traffic or stocking store shelves so her kids could attend private school. She eventually settled into a career in communications, with a focus on customer service.
Claudia was a voracious reader - a quality she passed on to her daughter, Erin, and granddaughter, Veronica - and loved science fiction, fantasy, romance, and adventure novels. She also loved animals. Her family always had dogs, cats, birds hamsters, and fish at home. She loved telling the story about how her son Michael, as a child, wanted to give their fish a hug.
She was independent and taught her kids to stand firm in who they are, no matter what others were doing or saying. Being truthful and kind were the most important things.
Claudia loved rock 'n' roll, motorcycles, and playing cards and board games, and she had a wicked sense of humor. She had a silly and uplifting attitude, always listening to and wanting to hear what her children and then grandchildren had to say. She was so understanding with her kids; they always felt they could talk to her about anything.
Claudia was predeceased by her father Donald Kamenzind, mother Joan (Stopera) Kamenzind, and brothers Timothy Kamenzind and Keith Kamenzind. She leaves behind many who loved her dearly, including her daughter Erin Giblin Nash (Kyle), son Michael IV, granddaughter Veronica Nash, grandson Korbin Nash, sisters Sharon Kamenzind McCool (Kirk) and Donna Kamenzind Maryan, and former husband Michael Giblin III.
