Clyde Douglas Hopper

May 13, 1955 — August 24, 2020

Clyde "Douglas" Hopper, 65, of Orlando, Florida left our world to be with God, his beloved parents, and his wife's beloved family on August 24, 2020. He was born in Versailles, Kentucky on May 13, 1955.

After graduating from high school as a proud Colonial High Grenadier, he lived life to the fullest. Doug worked multiple jobs for 25 years at Semoran Skateway, to 38 years in facilities of Orange County Public Schools, where he met his wife, Dana, of 32 yeras. After retirement, he became a most loved Orlando Police Department Crossing Guard in the Vista Lakes Elementary and Odyssey Middle communities. This job soon became part of his heart, as he was very protective of "his" kids. Doug's heart didn't end there though. He loved dedicating time to his wife's school, Odyssey Middle, for 19 years. Doug was known in the community as "Superman" because he battled cancer and Parkinson's, yet came to his post day after day with his contagious smile, enthusiastic wave, bubbly conversations, and protective heart. When Doug wasn't on his post, he enjoyed time with his sons, Dustin and Drew, supporting them on bowling teams, Conway Little League baseball fields, collecting antique tractors, and going to tractor pulls. With his wife always by his side, they also enjoyed spending time at Moss Park camping, chatting with the staff and sitting by a camp fire with friends. He cherished spending time relaxing with his siblings, but most notably, fishing with his brother.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Dana; loyal sons Drew and Dustin; siblings, David (Connie), Dean and Carol Nuzzi; many nieces and nephews; his family in Kentucky; and extended family in Louisiana and Punta Gorda, Florida.

Doug always expressed to his wife his gratitude for how his doctors and the community supported and encouraged him, which gave him the strength to continue his fight, which earned him the name "Superman."

Due to gathering restrictions, a celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
