On Thursday April 22nd 2021, Daniel "Dan" Ray Burke, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Brother passed away at the age of 73.
Dan left this world to be reunited with his loved ones who preceded him including his parents John Howard and Frances Atkinson Burke; Brother Robert Burke and Sister Sandra "Sandy" Morales.
Dan was born on November 9th 1947 in Huntsville, Texas. He joined the the United States Army in 1968 and proudly served our country in Vietnam as a E-5 specializing in communications. Upon his return from the military, he began his 34 year career which started out with South Western Bell and would later become AT&T, where he eventually met his beloved wife Linda Burke. In 1988 Dan, Linda, and their children Shane and Jaime, moved to Longwood Florida and have resided there since.
Dan was a true gentleman who was never afraid to do whatever it took to take care of his family. He was a man of many words once he started talking and was never afraid to voice his opinions. There was no mistaking how Dan felt about something, good or bad. But, just as intimidating as Dan could be with that look he had, there was a softer side to him that not too many people knew about. So know if you were one of the few people in this world to get to see that side of Dan, you were important to him. He was a huge presence and he will be missed beyond measure.
Dan is survived by his wife of over 34 years, Linda Burke; Son Shane Burke and his wife Jean Burke; Daughter Jaime Menzies and Husband Mike De Le Garza; Sisters Verna Thompson and her husband Bill, Beverly Floriano and her husband Leroy, Linda Mooney and her husband Paul, Pam Bush-Belnoski and her husband Robert, Sister in law Laura Burke; Grandchildren, Scott, Shayna, Riley, Emma Rae, and Jackson; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will be holding a small private celebration of life at a later time.
In lieu of flowers or donations to charities, Dan being the family man that he was, would want you to take that money and take your family out to dinner or anywhere you can spend time together because you can't get that time back once it's gone.
