Daniel Carrasquillo Jimenez was born in Luquillo, Puerto Rico 83 years ago. At the age of 17 Daniel decided to move to New York City looking for a way to help his family in Puerto Rico. He kept his promise.
He started working at a factory in Brooklyn, New York and faithfully sent
money to his mother and the rest of the family. One by one he sent for his brother and sisters, rescuing them from the poverty that surrounded the island at the time. In New York Daniel met Juanita Negron, a lovely woman that we all adored. They had two children; Danny and Edwin.
This remarkable man also became the father figure to the children of his widowed sisters. He was there for our weddings, graduations, failings and successes. There to pick up the pieces or give us a piece of his mind. We will always admire his courage to venture out at such a young age, away from his place of birth, his devotion to his parents, his wife and his children and his dedication to the family at all times.
He was always our pillar of strength, at times stubborn, far from perfect, but a man of integrity and honor, a man that we loved and respected dearly.
We will never forget you because you live in our hearts.
