Daphne Houghton Moss, 71 passed away at home Wed. Sept. 28, 2005 after a courageous battle with liver cancer. Born October 8, 1933 in Luton Bedfordshire England of Father, Leslie Ernest William Houghton and Mother, Florence May Lathwell both deceased. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert D. Moss and sons, David C. (Terry) of Rio Vista, CA and Robert L. (Beatrice) of Oviedo, FL and Stephen P. of Orlando. One son, James Michael predeceased her in 1998. Loving grandchildren, David C. Moss Jr. and Michelle Skinner Moss, San Antonio, TX, Stephen P. Moss Jr. and Shelena E. Moss, Eustis, FL, Joseph Phillip and Greg, Orlando, Haley, Casselberry, FL and Breshae, Goose Creek, S.C. Daphne met and married her husband "Bob" when he was stationed near Luton in 1952 and proceeded to accompany him in his travels to various bases in the USA and such exotic places as Peshawar, Pakistan, Karamursal, Turkey, Scotland and England. Her sons received educations that could not be bought as they lived with the various people of the countries they visited. As the Matriarch of the clan she became a focal point for all the daughters-in-law and girl friends of her sons. She was their "Dear Abby" dispensing advice when needed and compassion and understanding without passing judgement. When she asked "How are you" she actually cared how your were, or, if she said "have a nice day" she really meant it. She will be together again with her beloved son, James, making rainbows. Surviving her in England are her brothers, Ronald Houghton (Pam), Peter (Sheila) and her sister Mary McDonald.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 895 S. Goldenrod Rd. Orlando with services at 6:00 PM.
