Darryl Taylor, born April 12, 1940 in Sarasota, Florida died March 19, 2019 in Altamonte Springs, Florida at age 78. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Gay Alice.
He spent his childhood with his parents and an older and younger brother in Sarasota. He was a popular athlete in high school and has remained friends with those classmates throughout the years.
Darryl has had several careers during his life, including being a barber and salesman and owning a produce business and then a pest control company. He had many loyal pest control customers who became friends for decades.
A lifelong outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, horseback riding and golfing but was particularly passionate about fishing, joking that he was really a part time pest control man but a full time fisherman. His catches resulted in many a fish fry enjoyed by the whole family. He was quite a cook, too, and prepared dinner each and every night for his wife, who was most envied. Darryl loved to share his passion by taking numerous nieces and nephews and other young friends out on his boat.
He was a Red Sox fan from a child where he would sneak out to watch them at Spring training to asking about their game schedule even in his final days.
A turning point came in his mid-life when he gave his life to Jesus Christ. Darryl was quiet about his faith as he was generally. But his love for his Savior led to many interesting Bible discussions and a re-evaluating of his life. It created a new bond with his family. The prayers shared with his brother his last year, particularly, will always be treasured. His final prayer declared he was ready to be with his Lord.
In addition to his wife, Darryl is survived by two brothers Terry Tarlor, & wife Peggy and K.O. Taylor, & wife Susan, a sister- and brother-in-law Trudy and Nelson Hom and numerous nieces and nephews: Ken Taylor, James Geraghty, Shawn Taylor, Pamela Geraghty, David Geraghty and Joshua Taylor and families.
Darryl was a quiet and giving man who will be missed by long time friends fishing buddies, customer/friends, and family, but he won't be soon forgotten.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at First Baptist Church Longwood, 891 SR 434, Longwood, FL 32750 at 11:00 AM.
