David Franklin Cook, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away on October 20, 2022. He was 73 years old. He was born in Akron, Ohio to his parents Paulene and Robert Cook.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Gloria Cook, his three children Jeremy Cook, Allison Vaughn and Christopher Cook and 2 grandchildren Brady and Ansleigh Vaughn and his brother Robert and sister Ginger Dressler and her 3 children.
David was enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he learned his profession of programmer/analyst. He developed a stand-alone pharmacy system for Dynamic Control and spent his last 30 years working on the mainframe for Florida Hospital/Advent Health.
David was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his buddies Greg, Joel, John and Doug for many years and frequented many of the courses in Central Florida and the Southeast. He loved to travel and vacation with good friends and family. One of his favorite vacations was his annual golf and beach trip to Longboat Key.
He also enjoyed dancing with his wife and took lessons over the years at the YMCA and at Everybody Dance in Winter Park. His favorite was the waltz, and he was quite good per his wife. He supported the Winter Park Playhouse and enjoyed attending.
He was a devoted father and grandfather. Dave enjoyed beach time with his children and van road trips. Being from rural Ohio, he appreciated the outdoors and designed a beautiful backyard including building a stone fountain.
Dave was best known for his quick-witted humor and generous spirit.
Family and friends are cordially invited to join us as we celebrate his life on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Gathering starts @1pm and service at 2pm EST.
