David Woods Mitchell Sr.
July 7, 1940 — June 12, 2024
David Woods Mitchell Sr., age 83, of Winter Springs passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Mitchell, daughter, Pamela Ann Mitchell, second wife Mary Theresa Boyle Mitchell and parents, William Martin Mitchell and Mary Ellen (O’Connell) Mitchell.
He is survived by his son, David Woods Mitchell Jr. daughter-in-law, Mickey Mitchell, granddaughters, Alexis Grace Mitchell and Riley Ann Mitchell, and brother, William Martin Mitchell Jr. He is also survived by his stepson, Brian Boyle, stepdaughter Amy Carroll, her husband Stephen, and their daughter, Evelyn. He was blessed with many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, and brother & sisters-in-law.
Dave was born on July 7, 1940, in New Haven, Connecticut. He proudly served in the US Navy as a Seabee from 1959 to 1963. After his military service, he attended Connecticut School of Electronics and was hired by IBM. He lived and worked in the greater New Haven area until 1974 when he took a job with Texas Instruments and moved his family down to Clearwater, Florida.
Following their initial move to Florida, he and his family settled in the Orlando area, where he enjoyed a successful career as a sales manager with Digital Equipment Corporation until retiring in 2001. Always an avid golfer, retirement also rekindled his love for music and he became a drummer again. He played Big Band music all over the central Florida area, performing alongside what he considered to be some of the most talented career musicians in the business. He played his last gig in September of 2023!
Dave had a generous heart and dedicated his time serving as a 2nd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, and working as an usher at his church, Sts Peter & Paul Catholic Church. He also enjoyed donating to charities such as Pathways to Care, and Life Choices.

Visitation is Monday, June 17, 2024 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations Funerals & Receptions, 3806 Howell Branch Road, Winter Park, FL 32792.
Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at 12:30 pm at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 526 N Park Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789.
Interment will follow at All Faiths Memorial Park, 1390 Park Drive, Casselberry, FL 32707.
