Deborah Lee Pelo

July 15, 1955 — January 18, 2021

On Monday January 18, 2021, Deborah "Debbie" Pelo, proud grandmother, loving mother and wife, passed away at the age of 65. Debbie was born in Englewood, New Jersey to Ellen and Edward Hauser and grew up in the state of New York. On May 17, 1975, she married Salvatore Pelo and they raised three children, Michael, Suzanne, and Kate.

In recent years, Debbie had a passion for her grandchildren, Leighton, Regan, and Grace; she spent as much time as possible with them and loved to share stories about them and their accomplishments to her friends and family. She would go out of her way to ensure her granddaughters were always happy and very spoiled. Prior to becoming a grandmother, Debbie worked at and retired from Lake Mary High School, where she was very involved in school activities with her children. She stayed busy coaching the Girl's Bowling Team, attending numerous choir concerts, bowling matches, swim meets, and water polo games. She also enjoyed helping in the concession stand for football games and booster activities. It seemed no matter what Debbie was doing in life, she would make sure she stayed involved and would lend a helping hand when she was able to. Debbie and her siblings grew up with their parents in the small town of Highland Mills, New York. Debbie and her siblings' involvement within the community made the family both well-known and well liked. Debbie and her siblings served the town thru their volunteer work and employment for the town itself. Debbie was very involved with the town's volunteer Ambulance Corp, where she was as an EMT for many years. She was also a dispatcher for the town's police department and was even the first elected female volunteer firefighter.

Debbie also loved to entertain and host parties for her friends and family. She loved to spend time with friends, laughing and joking around. If you were one of Debbie's friends, you always knew you were never just an acquaintance; you were part of the family and she would love you as such (and feed you as such).

Debbie was preceded in death by her father, Edward. Debbie is survived by her husband, Salvatore, her three children, Mikey, Suzanne, and Kate and her husband, Dell, her mother, Ellen, her siblings, Cindy, Connie and her husband Steve, and Eddie and his wife Debbie, her three granddaughters, Leighton, Regan, and Grace, and her nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service for Debbie will be held on Saturday January 30, 2021 at 12pm at Newcomer Funeral Home at 335 E State Road 434 in Longwood, with a visitation hour beginning at 11am. Reception to follow at Jax's in Lake Mary on the patio, where we will celebrate Debbie's life and have a Happy Hour in her honor.
